| As Black As Ice You stand there full of rage and yet full of confusion. Your gray mystified eyes glow with possession that I could not tame. Your heart was wild, but bound to me. You were as relentless as the horses you so desired to ride. What you wanted I could not give. You created a world with no ambition that I could not abide by. You hated me for desiring more out of life. I hated you for not desiring life. I craved to walk the world, but like a caged animal, you would not set me free. Your scratched belt buckle and your old crooked felt hat painted a portrait of an old obscured cowboy. I wish there was a knot in the rope that set us free. Like a bird, you held me tight by the strength of your wing. Gasping for freedom, I cried out as I cunningly crawled from your powerful grip. You, always powerful and kind, but not gentle, possessed the aroma of distress in your own obscurity. You breathed life as dry as the fields you use to farm. My devotion was so immense, why couldn't you understand. Our passion did not need to be as black as ice. |
